Syne offers a attachment system that keeps your saddle pad clear of the withers, even when the pockets are full.

Conversely, a saddle pad with heavy, unsuspended pockets will exert direct pressure on the spine, which isn't designed to bear weight. This role is fulfilled by the supporting muscles of the back and the saddle's padding.
